Upcycled Antique Treasure Chest
THEY BROUGHT US AN ANTIQUE WOODEN TRUNK THAT HAD TRAVELLED FAR BEYOND THE WALLS OF THEIR HOME.
They brought us an antique wooden trunk that had travelled far beyond the walls of their home.
The Challenge
At a local makers market in May 2025, a couple approached us with an antique wooden trunk. It had travelled across seas, been passed through generations, and carried a remarkable story. But the lid was broken and worn, and the piece was in need of repair.
The Idea
They had seen our resin work at the market and wanted to restore the trunk while honouring its maritime history. The vision was to upcycle the chest with ocean-inspired resin art, giving it both strength and a new sense of identity.
The Transformation
We repaired the damaged lid and poured resin in shades of blue, creating a flowing design that echoed the movement of water. The resin both strengthened the structure and added a striking visual element – a nod to the seas the trunk once sailed.
The Result
The trunk has been reborn as a functional heirloom with a unique design twist. Strong, beautiful, and steeped in history, it can now continue its journey in the family home.
