SOMETIMES THE MATERIALS WE WORK WITH CARRY AS MUCH HISTORY AS THE PIECES WE MAKE.

Sometimes the materials we work with carry as much history as the pieces we make.

One of our rarest finds is a section of Brighton Pier decking – reclaimed from less than a kilometre from our workshop.

The Challenge
Close to our workshop, we came across a rare find: original decking reclaimed from Brighton Pier. Weathered from decades of salt air, footsteps, and waves beneath, the boards were full of character but no longer suitable for their original purpose.

The Idea
Instead of letting this history fade away, we set out to give the decking a new role in the home – practical, beautiful, and full of story. Perfect as rustic shelving or a coat rack, it could carry Brighton’s coastal spirit indoors.

The Transformation
We carefully sanded and finished the boards to preserve their aged grain and softened edges, while ensuring they were ready for daily use. Every mark and texture was kept as part of their character – a reminder of where they came from.

The Result
Each finished piece is unique, with a natural weathered look that fits perfectly into coastal-chic interiors. More than furniture, they’re a slice of Brighton’s history – reclaimed, reimagined, and given a second life.
